Cricket is not less than religion in India, People takes it hands to hand especially after winning the 1983 cricket world cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev.
But sometimes there were some occasions when cricket had to be embarrassed due to match-fixing. Today we will talk about some Indian cricketers who played for Indian national cricket team and facing the punishment of life ban from cricket due to match-fixing.
#1 Mohammad Azharuddin
Former Indian captain and legendary cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. He was one of the finest cricket batsmen of one day cricket. Azharuddin was India’s greatest players before Sachin Tendulkar. Worth considering, he made 22 test centuries and more than 15000 international runs. He could be the first cricketer in the world to reach 10000 one day international runs if he didn’t allege in match-fixing and banned from playing cricket.
In the year 2000, his cricket career comes to end when he was alleged in the infamous match-fixing scandal. Later he got the legend ban for playing international cricket by BCCI. In 2012 he declared innocent but by then he was 49 years old and it was not possible to return and play cricket. He played 334 one day international cricket matches and 99 test matches for India.
#2 S Sreesanth:
S Sreesanth was always known for his fast bowling wicket talking quality. Also was also famous for his aggression and controversial cricket career. S Sreesanth was the part of T20 and one-day world winning team in 2007 and 2011.
During the IPL season in May 2013, Sreesanth was arrested by police due to facing the allegations of spot match-fixing during an IPL match against Kings XI Punjab. Sreesanth was founded guilty of receiving the amount of 40 Lac INR to bowled a no-ball again Kings XI batsman. For the same Sreesanth founded guilty and got a lifetime ban from cricket.
Later Sreesanth gets free from the charges against him by Andhra Pradesh high court, but BCCI continued the Life ban of playing cricket on Sreesanth.
#3 Manoj Prabhakar
One of India’s most consistent all-rounder with 96 test wickets in 20 matches, and 157 wickets in 45 ODI matches. It’s a dream that very few can achieve.
In 1996 he was dropped from the team after the world cup due to resorting bowling off-spin in his last two overs to contain Sanath Jayasuriya. Later the drop from the team Prabhakar reacted very aggressively he accused the team captain Mohammad Azharuddin to be participating in spot match-fixing.
In 1999, Prabhakar becomes a very controversial figure. He accused many legendary Indian cricketers of spot match-fixing including Kapil Dev.
#4 Ajay Sharma
Ajay Sharma was one of the greatest domestic cricketers in the world with 31 Ranji Trophy centuries and more than 10000 runs in first-class cricket also maintain the average of 67. He was greatest after Vijay Merchant.
He played 1 test matches and 20 international one-day matches for Indian national cricket team. He didn’t get success in international cricket as his golden domestic record.
Later he gets a life ban from cricket due to match-fixing allegations, in 2014 he declared innocent but it was not enough to come back for him in Indian cricket.
#5 Amit Singh
was a promising player (bowler) of Rajasthan Royals, his debut against Kings 11 Punjab was superb with bowling figure of 4-0-9-3.
Later Amit Singh was embroiled in IPL Spot-fixing as he was contacted by Bookie, due to his involvement in IPL Spot-fixing BCCI banned in for 5 years.
#6 Siddharth Trivedi
was performed really well in under-19 cricket world cup 2002. Later he got the Border-Gavaskar scholarship that gives him the opportunity to get 5 weeks training in ACA (Australia Cricket Academy). He was part of India B team in the Challenges Trouble.
Trivedi comes into highlights when he played s winning role for Rajasthan Royals and help them to win the IPL season. He was praised by Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne.
During an IPL season, Trivedi was arrested by police and accepted of match-fixing with bookies Deepak Sharma and Sunil Bhatia. He was banned by BCCI for a year but failed to make a return in cricket. Later he was banned subsequently from cricket for match-fixing by BCCI.
#7 Ajay Jadeja
Ajay Jadeja was one of the finest batsdman on Indian Cricket. He was regular cricketer in Indian Cricket for 8 years between 1992 to 2000 and played 196 ODI and 15 test matches for Indian cricket team. Jadeja got the 5 year ban from playing cricket in 2000. His cricket ban was quashed later on January 27th, 2003 and after that he was eligible to play Domestic & International cricket. Currently Ajay Jadeja is cricket commentator.
#8 Ankeet Chavan
gets a life ban from cricket due to spot match-fixing by BCCI. He represented the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. This all-rounder cricketer’s career gets to end without any noticeable career in the cricket.
#9 Shalabh Srivastava
Shalabh Srivastava belongs from Uttar Pradesh and represents India under 19 cricket world cup he was a left-arm medium pace bowler and took 14 wickets in 2000 u-19 cricket world cup was made him highest wicket taking bowler in that tournament.
Later he represented Kings XI Punjab in Indian Premier League. He alleged for receiving the black money from the franchise. He gets Five years cricket ban from BCCI.
#10 TP Sudhindra
He was featured in IPL as medium pacer from the side of Deccan Chargers. He delivered promising performance in back to back Ranji Trophy with a ball, he picks up the 25 wickets in 2010-11 & 40 wickets in 2011-12 Ranji session.
His bright future was ended due to a sting operation by India TV, where he had a conversation of bowling a no-ball to the batsman in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League T-20 match. Siddharth also said that he could do it again and again also he stated spot-fixing can be done in a very easy manner in Indian Premier League T-20 matches.
